Last summer, visual artist Hans Arets moved into his studio at Contact. We are very pleased with his arrival, with his experience he already proved to be an addition to the Contact community. In his, mostly monochrome reliefs, he plays and interacts with light. Lines and shapes are created by cuts or recesses in the surface of the artwork. Higher areas light up. Dark areas create a subtle shadow or take you to imaginary spaces behind the surface. The use of machines such as the laser cutter and CNC mill in Contact's MAKERSPACE offers Hans new possibilities to investigate the effect of light in his work.
